Not content with selling produce at prices that Waitrose would consider extreme, Wivenhoe Co-op has decided to branch out into the arts, launching a series of evening classes for those that should really know better.
While Macramé Mondays, Textile Tuesdays and Felting Fridays are expected to have limited appeal, it’s Willies-out Wednesdays that are sure to be the biggest hit with culture-starved locals expected to pack out the aisles.
Co-op manager Terry Bloke explains all: “Everyone knows that the cultured lot always spend the most money, so what better way to pack them in than getting some blokes to get their kit off under the guise of art? They’ll be cock a hoop about the models I’ve got lined up for them to draw. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.”
The first Willies-out Wednesday starts next week, although all tickets have been sold for the next six years.
